When I was 28 years old, my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. I was a newlywed of two weeks and took on the role of caregiver for my father, a role I will never regret. Those memories forever will be cherished. It was, however, at that time that I realized the many challenges we faced. I wanted the best care for my father, yet, I wanted a happy marriage and career. Managing it all seemed emotionally draining at times. There were doctors appointments. He enjoyed eating out. He loved walking in the woods; picking pecans. He loved sharing stories of his time in the Navy during WWII. Yet there were many things he previously had done but no longer could do for himself. His care required a lot of time and attention–time I didn’t always have. I had to find a way to take care of my family and myself as well.
Since that time, I spent 25 years in the healthcare industry as a sales rep. In 1993 I became a commissioned Louisiana Notary Public. While we are not licensed professional healthcare practitioners, there are many tasks for which we can fill in the gaps. Our knowledge and experience has led us to this labor of love.

After spending nearly 30 years in a financial, securities and insurance practice, and working with banks for over 20 years, I have gained a deeper understanding of family, business and even corporate issues related to work, finance, retirement and goal planning. On the most fundamental level, working with families on their financial pictures is a deeply personal and rewarding enterprise. In that process I have also owned and managed commercial and residential, multi-family real estate through the course of financial practice and after. Dealing with the daily tasks of managing and maintaining property has brought with it experience in renovation, repair and upkeep, as well as fiscal and personal issues related to housing, business and commerce.
In other business endeavors I became involved in a relatively small way in the Post-Katrina cleanup process, and thereafter many lessons were learned about partnerships, politics and disaster recovery. Throughout this process my focus has always remained on people…helping people to accomplish goals, manage their time and resources and to really get to know what someone else needs before offering a solution. This is especially true in today’s busy, bustling world…we need to take time to get to know each other, and find where we can lend a hand. That is where it becomes possible to make a difference and a mutual, positive partnership. –Mark
Why St Tammany? What’s to love about this place?
Tamanend or Tammany or Tammamend, the “affable“,[1] (c. 1625–c. 1701) was a chief of one of the clans that made up the Lenni-Lenape nation in the Delaware Valley at the time Philadelphia was established. Tamanend is best known as a lover of peace and friendship who played a prominent role in developing amicable relations among the Lenape and the English settlers who settled Pennsylvania, led by William Penn.
Also referred to as “Tammany”, he became a popular figure in 18th-century America, especially in Philadelphia. Also called a “Patron Saint of America”, Tamenend represented peace and amity. Tammany assumed mythic status as an icon for the peaceful politics of negotiation.
